Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2011, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for Tennessee was 1,234,325 and represented 20.22% of the total Tennessee citizen population.

Among all Tennessee counties, Shelby had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (474.25K), followed by Davidson (166.87K), and Hamilton (66.47K).

In terms of percentages, Shelby had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (53.43%), followed by Haywood (50.73%), and Hardeman (41.14%).
