Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2016, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for Tennessee was 1,271,600 and represented 20.03% of the total Tennessee citizen population.

Among all Tennessee counties, Shelby had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (492.87K), followed by Davidson (179.57K), and Hamilton (67.96K).

In terms of percentages, Shelby had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (54.83%), followed by Haywood (50.61%), and Hardeman (41.78%).
