Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2017, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for Tennessee was 1,276,885 and represented 19.98% of the total Tennessee citizen population.

Among all Tennessee counties, Shelby had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (494.92K), followed by Davidson (180.81K), and Hamilton (68.09K).
