According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2017, the number of deaths for the United States was 2,788,163; and the top three states that had the highest number of deaths were:
- California: 265,216
- Florida: 199,773
- Texas: 194,127
On the other hand, the top 3 states that had the lowest number of deaths were:
- Alaska: 4,429
- Wyoming: 4,753
- District of Columbia: 5,136
