According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2016, the net domestic migration rate for Alaska was -7.01. Denali Borough had the highest net domestic migration rate (36.93) followed by Skagway Borough (31.5), and Matanuska-Susitna Borough (19.98). On the other hand, Yakutat City and Borough had the lowest net domestic migration rate (-47.92), followed by Aleutians West Borough (-38.43), and Aleutians East Borough (-31.81).

Net Domestic migration rate for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) per 1,000 of the mid-year population of the county.
