According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for Virginia was 5.19. Fredericksburg city had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (42.23), followed by Prince Edward County (36.25), and Williamsburg city (29.29). On the other hand, Mecklenburg County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-24.18), followed by Lunenburg County (-21.69), and Greensville County (-21.48).
