On 7/20/21, at approximately 1003 hours, at 920 Fries Frozen Foods (Est. M46622). IIC observed the following noncompliance while performing a livestock humane handling verification task. The IIC observed establishment employee ineffectively stun a steer with the first shot. The steer was standing and fully aware following the first shot. The establishment employee initiated immediate corrective actions and effectively stunned the steer with the second shot rendering it unconscious. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.16 (a)(1) “The firearms shall be employed in the delivery of a bullet or projectile into the animal in accordance with this section so as to produce immediate unconsciousness in the animal by a single shot”. Owner Jarrod creasy was notified of this noncompliance verbally and in writing.

On 6.15.21, at approximately 1205 hours, at 920 Fries Frozen Foods LLC (Est. M4622), IPP observed the following non-compliance while performing a Livestock Humane Handling Task. Establishment Personnel Placed two swine in the knock box. The first swine was rendered unconscious with a single shot from a firearm. The establishment employee then attempted to stun the second hog with a firearm, but the first shot did not render the animal unconscious. The animal remained standing and vocalized. The establishment employee took immediate corrective action by stunning the hog a second time which effectively rendered it unconscious. The knock box was tagged with U.S. Reject Tag No. B-45954550. On Postmortem Examination, two distinct points of entry were identified in the skull of the hog. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1). Establishment Owner Jarrod Creasy was notified of this non-compliance verbally and in writing and the tag was removed from the knock box.

On 6.8.2021, at approximately 0900 hours, at 920 Fries Frozen Foods (Est. M46622), IIC observed the following non-compliance while performing a Livestock Humane Handling Task, In the Center Cattle holding pen, IIC observed multiple sharp protruding points created from damaged chain-link fencing. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.1(a) - which states that “Pens, floors, and driveways, including entrances and exits, are maintained in good repair and free from sharp objects that may cause injury or pain to animals”. Establishment management was notified of the non-compliances and immediately moved the animals out of the pens. It was suggested that the pens were possibly damaged by the animals being held.
