On 6-20-2023 at approximately 08:15 hours, at Fries Frozen Foods (Est# M46622), IIC observed the following humane handling noncompliance. During ante-mortem inspection, IIC observed two bulls in the middle pen with no access to water. IIC notified kill floor staff and the animals were provided with water. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with federal regulations 9 CFR 313.1

On 10.28.2022, at 920 Fries Frozen Foods (Est. M46622), IIC observed the following noncompliance while performing a Livestock Human Handling Task. At approximately 1040 hours, IIC observed an ineffective stunning attempt of a lamb. The animal moved as the operator attempted to stun the animal, resulting in an ineffective stun. The animal remained standing, and no vocalization was observed. The operator immediately followed up with an effective stunning attempt rendering the animal unconscious. Upon Further Investigation of the head after skinning, IIC observed that one shot was off center and towards the right orbital socket. The second, successful stunning attempt shot was observed to be dead center. At approximately 1249 Hours, IIC observed an ineffective stunning attempt on a Hog. The stunning operator made two unsuccessful, successive stunning attempts with a 22. Long. The animal remained standing, and no vocalization was observed. Immediately following the two unsuccessful attempts, a secondary operator immediately applied a third successful stunning attempt with a 22. Magnum, rendering the animal unconscious. IIC applied U.S. Rejected Tag NO. B42237777 to the knock box to halt further stunning operations. Upon Further Investigation of the head after skinning, IIC observed three entry points into the skull. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.16(a) The Establishment Owners were notified of this noncompliance verbally and in writing.
