On April 6, 2021 at approximately 8:30 a.m. while performing a routine humane handling verification on HATS category IV- Ante Mortem inspection, the following noncompliances were observed: 1) In the alley leading from the barn pens to the holding pens, one of the pipe frames of the alley fencing nearest to the holding pens was broken and sticking up approximately 2-3 inches off the ground and the exposed edges were ragged. 2) In the pen that is usually used for sorting the animals there were two beef in the pen. There were three sheets of what looked like plywood on the ground of the pen and one of the sheets was broken along the whole length with an exposed crack of approximately 2-3 inches. Also, in the middle of the sorting pen there were two pieces of 2X4 approximately 12 inches each, that were connected at a 90 degree angle. Both observations could pose an injury or fall hazard to animals. At the time of the verification visit no animals were observed to have been injured. Owner, Rem Hoke was notified of the noncompliances and he moved the two beef from the sorting pen to a holding pen.
