Non-Compliance Description:

HAT Category III – Water and Feed Availability On 07-20-2021 at 0653 while performing the initial ante mortem inspection of the day at Southeastern Provision, Food Inspector REDACTED observed the following violation. While viewing pen three, she observed the pen was overcrowded and a small angus cow (tag number 2381) was being stepped on multiple times and unable to rise due to the overcrowding. With the animal unable to rise, the animal was also unable to reach the water trough in the pen. Ms. REDACTED notified establishment employee REDACTED (REDACTED) REDACTED of the situation. Mr. REDACTED immediately moved to open the gate allowing some of the cows to enter the other pen, this gave the small angus cow the ability to stand up and also the ability to reach the water trough. This is a violation of regulation 313.2(e), Handling of livestock. I, CSI REDACTED, notified Alternate Plant Manager Spencer England of the noncompliance and that an NR would be issued.
