HATS Category III Water and Feed Availability On 01/04/2022 at approximately 17:13 Relief SPHV Dr. REDACTED observed the following noncompliance while performing ante mortem inspection. While observing the hogs in pens M, N, O, and P in the South Barn Dr. REDACTED observed that the valves to the drinking water pipes for all four pens were turned to the closed position. Barn Leader Mr. REDACTED was immediately notified, and he opened the valves to these four pens. Water was then readily observed dripping from some of the nipple drinkers and all pipes were tested successfully with the secondary flush valve. Second Shift Barn Supervisor REDACTED and Mr. REDACTED were notified verbally and now in writing with this NR of the failure to comply with regulatory requirement 9 CFR 313.2(e), which requires that water be accessible to livestock in in all holding pens. Immediate corrective actions were to open the water valves and ensure that all pens had flowing water available for the nipple drinkers. Preventative measures will be outlined in the establishments written response to this NR. This document serves as written notification that your failure to comply with regulatory requirements could result in additional regulatory or administrative action.
