HATS CATEGORY III : Water and Feed Availability At approximately 0750 hours while performing the Livestock Humane Handling task at Boone's Abattoir, the following noncompliance was observed. Pen one holding three beef animals and pen 2 holding one beef and one dairy animal were observed with no access to water. These two pens share a common water trough and the water supply hose had been pulled free. I immediately notified owners REDACTED and REDACTED of the observed noncompliance with 9CFR 313.2(e) and this impending written documentation.

HATS category IV: Ante-mortem Inspection While performing the Livestock Humane Handling task at Boone’s Abattoir (M8078) Bardstown, KY, Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer (SVMO) REDACTED, DVM made the following observation in the holding pens of the establishment at approximately 0745 hrs. EST: At the bottom right back corner of pen #4 (as one looks at the pen) was found a rather large hole in a sheet of metal; the edge of the metal was rusty, jagged, and sharp and curled out into the pen thereby creating the potential for injury to any animal placed in the pen. U.S. Rejected tag # B45710437 was placed on pen #4. Establishment Co-owner REDACTED was notified of the above regulatory control action and forthcoming documentation of non-compliance with 9 CFR 313.1(a).
