HATS Category IV: Ante-Mortem While performing antemortem inspection at Wampler’s Farm Sausage (M-9065) at approximately 1200 hours I observed the following events. I observed a hog in the V-belt restrainer moving toward REDACTED, Plant Manager, whom was to perform the stunning. However, the V-belt restrainer did not stop, and the hog continued past the stunner and out onto the bleed table. From this point the hog jumped off the bleed table and injured its back legs and was unable to walk. I informed REDACTED, Plant Manager, of the non-compliance with 9 CFR 313.2(a), as the establishment failed to deliver the hog to the stunning area with a minimum of excitement and discomfort.
