313.16(a)(1)
HATS Category VIII At approximately 12:00 hours on March 26th, 2025 while performing a Livestock Humane Handling Task, I observed a plant employee attempt to stun a beef by means of gunshot. Upon firing the firearm the beef dropped to the ground, however the animal continued to blink and vocalized twice. The plant took immediate corrective actions by firing a second shot which rendered the beef insensible. This is noncompliant with 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1). The Plant Owner, Ms. REDACTED and the Shift Supervisor, Mr. REDACTED were immediately notified of the noncompliance.
