According to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly wage for the United States in 2011 Q2 was $891. Among all US states and DC, District of Columbia had the highest average weekly wage ($1,540), followed by Massachusetts ($1,122), and Connecticut ($1,116).

On the other hand, South Dakota had the lowest average weekly wage ($656), followed by Mississippi ($662), and Idaho ($667).
