According to data from the World Bank, in 1968, Mali had the highest neonatal mortality rate (per 1,000 live births) in Africa (98), followed by Liberia (95.8), and Ivory Coast (79.9). On the other hand, Zimbabwe had the lowest neonatal mortality rate in Africa in 1968 (32.1).
