Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2012, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for North Carolina was 1,245,335 and represented 13.77% of the total North Carolina citizen population.

Among all North Carolina counties, Mecklenburg had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (271.69K), followed by Wake (180.88K), and Guilford (154.38K).

In terms of percentages, Bertie had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (63.14%), followed by Hertford (61.32%), and Edgecombe (58.24%).
