Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2017, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for North Carolina was 1,276,885 and represented 13.37% of the total North Carolina citizen population.

Among all North Carolina counties, Mecklenburg had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (309.24K), followed by Wake (199.56K), and Guilford (168.69K).

In terms of percentages, Bertie had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (62.37%), followed by Hertford (58.92%), and Edgecombe (58.34%).
