Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 1,148,262 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in New Jersey and they represented 12.91% of the total population of New Jersey in 2018. Essex County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (309,392), followed by Union County (116,912), and Camden County (93,978).
