Based on data from the CDC, the overall number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Any Opioids in the US in 2020 was 39,959, and the age adjusted rate per 100,000 persons was 26. These overall values was based on data from 34 jurisdictions (i.e. states and DC).

Among all states with data, Ohio had the highest number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Any Opioids (4,535), followed by Pennsylvania (4,415), North Carolina (2,702), and New Jersey (2,626).

In terms of the age-adjusted rate of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Any Opioids per 100K persons, West Virginia had the highest (69.1), followed by Delaware (44.5), and Maryland (41.7).
