Based on data from the CDC, the overall number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Any Opioids in the US in 2023 was 61,095, and the age adjusted rate per 100,000 persons was 27.3. These overall values was based on data from 42 jurisdictions (i.e. states and DC).

Among all states with data, New York had the highest number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Any Opioids (5,193), followed by Pennsylvania (3,934), Ohio (3,876), and North Carolina (3,618).

In terms of the age-adjusted rate of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Any Opioids per 100K persons, West Virginia had the highest (70), followed by Delaware (48.7), and Tennessee (43.1).
