On 7.16.2024, at approximately 1133 hours, at WJ Wainright and Son Inc (Est. M48277), IIC observed the following non-compliance while performing a livestock humane handling task. IIC observed the operator unsuccessfully stun a swine animal. The animal remained standing and vocalized. The operator took immediate corrective actions by applying a second successful stunning attempt, which rendered the animal immediately unconscious. Two holes were observed in the skull upon post-mortem examination. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1). On 5.17.2024, at approximately 0810 hours, at WJ Wainright and Son Inc. (Est. M48277), IIC observed the following non-compliance while performing a livestock humane handling task. IIC observed establishment employee unsuccessfully stun a swine animal. The animal vocalized and remained standing. Establishment implemented immediate corrective actions and applied a second successful stunning attempt. Two holes were observed in the skull upon post-mortem examination. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1). Establishment management was notified of this non-compliance.

On 1.23.2024, at approximately 0708 hours, at WJ Wainright and Son Inc. (Est. M47418), IIC Observed the following non-compliance while performing a Livestock Humane Handling Task, In the livestock holding pens, IIC Observed that animals did not have access to water. This represents the establishments failure to maintain compliance with 9 CFR 313.2(e). Establishment Management was notified immediately and took immediate corrective actions by providing animals with access to water.
