According to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly wage for the United States in 2008 Q2 was $841. Among all US states and DC, District of Columbia had the highest average weekly wage ($1,434), followed by Massachusetts ($1,044), and New York ($1,040).

On the other hand, South Dakota had the lowest average weekly wage ($606), followed by Montana ($630), and Mississippi ($635).
