According to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly wage for the United States in 2008 Q4 was $919. Among all US states and DC, District of Columbia had the highest average weekly wage ($1,571), followed by New York ($1,170), and Connecticut ($1,165).

On the other hand, South Dakota had the lowest average weekly wage ($663), followed by Montana ($678), and Mississippi ($679).
