Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2013, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for North Carolina was 1,251,565 and represented 13.68% of the total North Carolina citizen population.

Among all North Carolina counties, Mecklenburg had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (280.23K), followed by Wake (184.52K), and Guilford (156.79K).

In terms of percentages, Bertie had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (63.07%), followed by Hertford (60.32%), and Edgecombe (58.31%).
