Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2016, the citizen voting-age population for North Carolina was 7,203,790 and represented 72.47% of the total North Carolina population.

Among all North Carolina counties, Wake had the highest citizen voting-age population (680.82K), followed by Mecklenburg (677.76K), and Guilford (366.00K).

In terms of percentages, Watauga had the highest percentage of its population being citizens of voting-age (85.29%), followed by Pamlico (81.92%), and Cherokee (81.29%).
