The US Census Bureau estimated that the Black or African American Alone population in South Carolina was 1,331,492 in 2013, and represented 27.94% of South Carolina's 4,766,469 population in 2013. Richland County had the highest number of the Black or African American Alone population (186,929 residents), followed by Charleston County with 108,675 residents, and Greenville County with 87,376 residents. McCormick County had the smallest number of the Black or African American Alone population (4,893 residents) in 2013.
