Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 1,408,246 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Ohio and they represented 12.19% of the total population of Ohio in 2012. Cuyahoga County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (373,424), followed by Franklin County (257,959), and Hamilton County (206,829). On the other hand, Vinton County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (40), followed by Wyandot County (59), and Monroe County (66).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Cuyahoga County had the highest percentage (29.49%), followed by Hamilton County (25.77%), and Franklin County (21.51%).
