Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 1,354,145 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in South Carolina and they represented 26.60% of the total population of South Carolina in 2018. Richland County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (196,647), followed by Charleston County (107,114), and Greenville County (92,025). On the other hand, McCormick County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (4,244), followed by Saluda County (4,922), and Oconee County (5,725).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Allendale County had the highest percentage (72.77%), followed by Williamsburg County (64.2%), and Lee County (63.69%).
