According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2011, the net domestic migration for Virginia was 12,941. Prince William County had the highest net domestic migration (6,331) followed by Loudoun County (5,084), and Arlington County (3,010). On the other hand, Newport News city had the lowest net domestic migration (-2,711), followed by Norfolk city (-1,718), and Hampton city (-1,553).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
