According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2023, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for Montana was 8.95. Petroleum County had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (57.67), followed by Musselshell County (36.46), and Broadwater County (33.28). On the other hand, McCone County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-21.26), followed by Fallon County (-18.53), and Roosevelt County (-16.97).
