Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2012, the citizen voting-age population for North Carolina was 6,826,610 and represented 71.53% of the total North Carolina population.

Among all North Carolina counties, Mecklenburg had the highest citizen voting-age population (613.17K), followed by Wake (605.10K), and Guilford (349.41K).

In terms of percentages, Watauga had the highest percentage of its population being citizens of voting-age (84.34%), followed by Transylvania (80.88%), and Pamlico (80.26%).
