The US Census Bureau estimated that the Black or African American Alone population in Arkansas was 458,033 in 2011, and represented 15.57% of Arkansas's 2,941,038 population in 2011. Pulaski County had the highest number of the Black or African American Alone population (137,327 residents), followed by Jefferson County with 42,191 residents, and Crittenden County with 26,059 residents. Newton County had the smallest number of the Black or African American Alone population (13 residents) in 2011.
