The US Census Bureau estimated that the Black or African American Alone population in Arkansas was 469,925 in 2016, and represented 15.71% of Arkansas's 2,991,815 population in 2016. Pulaski County had the highest number of the Black or African American Alone population (145,477 residents), followed by Jefferson County with 40,024 residents, and Crittenden County with 26,246 residents. Newton County had the smallest number of the Black or African American Alone population (34 residents) in 2016.
