The US Census Bureau estimated that the Black or African American Alone population in Arkansas was 459,822 in 2012, and represented 15.57% of Arkansas's 2,952,876 population in 2012. Pulaski County had the highest number of the Black or African American Alone population (138,779 residents), followed by Jefferson County with 41,627 residents, and Crittenden County with 25,845 residents. Newton County had the smallest number of the Black or African American Alone population (14 residents) in 2012.
