According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the net domestic migration for North Dakota was 11,000. Cass County had the highest net domestic migration (2,061) followed by Williams County (2,037), and Burleigh County (1,848). On the other hand, Pembina County had the lowest net domestic migration (-137), followed by Barnes County (-97), and Richland County (-76).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
