According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2014, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for South Carolina was 9.76. Lancaster County had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (31.71), followed by Horry County (29.25), and Beaufort County (20.72). On the other hand, Bamberg County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-16.05), followed by Allendale County (-10.85), and Barnwell County (-10.67).

Net migration rate for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county per 1,000 of the county's mid-year population.
