According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in June 2007, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 217.915 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was -1.1%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Rent of primary residence: 3.2%
  2. Food at home: 3%
  3. Owners' equivalent rent of residences: 1.8%
