According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in September 2020, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 283.391 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 1.7%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Food at home: 8.2%
  2. Food away from home: 7.5%
  3. Tuition, other school fees, and childcare: 5.5%
