Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2015, there were 2,148,530 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in North Carolina and they represented 21.41% of the total population of North Carolina in 2015. Mecklenburg County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (323,319), followed by Wake County (207,415), and Guilford County (173,327). On the other hand, Graham County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (30), followed by Mitchell County (72), and Clay County (94).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Bertie County had the highest percentage (61.58%), followed by Hertford County (60.02%), and Northampton County (57.67%).
