Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, there were 714,415 people that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone in South Dakota and they represented 81.77% of the total population of South Dakota in 2017. Minnehaha County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic White alone population (155,896), followed by Pennington County (88,600), and Lincoln County (52,707). On the other hand, Buffalo County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic White alone (303), followed by Oglala Lakota County (614), and Ziebach County (659).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic White alone, Faulk County had the highest percentage (96.95%), followed by Hand County (96.64%), and Hanson County (96.48%).
