Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, there were 111,460 people that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone in North Carolina and they represented 1.03% of the total population of North Carolina in 2023. Robeson County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone population (46,103), followed by Cumberland County (4,984), and Scotland County (4,236). On the other hand, Tyrrell County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone (9), followed by Hyde County (24), and Washington County (33).
