Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, there were 708,814 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Missouri and they represented 11.60% of the total population of Missouri in 2017. St. Louis County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (242,838), followed by Jackson County (163,078), and St. Louis city (142,439). On the other hand, Scotland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (4), followed by Schuyler County (7), and Putnam County (8).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, St. Louis city had the highest percentage (46.18%), followed by Pemiscot County (26.51%), and Mississippi County (24.72%).
