Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 1,838,817 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.29% of the total population of Illinois in 2011. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,263,760), followed by St. Clair County (81,771), and Will County (75,772). On the other hand, Calhoun County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (6), followed by Scott County (8), and Jasper County (13).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (35.66%), followed by Pulaski County (32.34%), and St. Clair County (30.28%).
