Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2012, there were 1,837,155 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.26% of the total population of Illinois in 2012. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,260,153), followed by St. Clair County (81,309), and Will County (76,091). On the other hand, Calhoun County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (8), followed by Scott County (11), and Jasper County (13).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (35.59%), followed by Pulaski County (32.31%), and St. Clair County (30.26%).
