Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, there were 1,803,304 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.11% of the total population of Illinois in 2017. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,207,752), followed by Will County (79,328), and St. Clair County (79,259). On the other hand, Hardin County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (18), followed by Jasper County (19), and Calhoun County (19).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (33.03%), followed by St. Clair County (30.15%), and Pulaski County (29.8%).
