Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2017, there were 628,909 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Indiana and they represented 9.44% of the total population of Indiana in 2017. Marion County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (267,407), followed by Lake County (114,548), and Allen County (42,918). On the other hand, Martin County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (25), followed by Warren County (26), and Ohio County (34).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Marion County had the highest percentage (28.11%), followed by Lake County (23.63%), and St. Joseph County (13.04%).
