According to the World Bank, in 1994, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: South Africa (3.05B US$), Nigeria (1.37B US$), and Gabon (981.68M US$).

Conversely, in 1994, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (2.85B US$), Morocco (1.94B US$), and Algeria (1.50B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
