According to the World Bank, in 2003, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: Algeria (9.75B US$), Libya (6.31B US$), and Nigeria (4.37B US$).

Conversely, in 2003, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (2.08B US$), Morocco (1.73B US$), and Mozambique (1.42B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
