According to the World Bank, in 2016, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: Gabon (2.52B US$), South Africa (1.46B US$), and Angola (1.44B US$).

Conversely, in 2016, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (31.77B US$), Algeria (22.69B US$), and Ethiopia (14.32B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
